Olympic Food Challenge – Ukraine – Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ukraine first competed in the Winter Olympics in 1994. Prior to that they competed under the Soviet Union. They have sent 238 athletes to the 2012 games! So far (7th Aug) they’ve won 9 medals, with 3 of those being gold.

When I was looking for recipes I came across recipes for Borsch and Deruny (potato pancakes) but Dave opted for Stuffed Cabbage Rolls. As you can imagine stuffing cabbage leaves was quite fiddly, but the efforts were worth the results. We served the rolls on top of the remaining filling with some sour cream.

I liked the rolls, although I imagine we wont have them again due to the fiddliness of them!
