Ahhhh. I love bread.
I cant remember how I found out about Love Bread based in Brighouse, but I follow them on twitter @lovebread_ and when they mentioned they were doing a flavoured breads course, I booked myself a spot!
Love Bread was set up by Carole and is a not for profit social enterprise with the aim of promoting ‘Real Bread’ in the local area. They run courses, teach bread making in schools and sell at markets.
There were six of us on the course and we made three different breads; Olive sourdough, Rye & Caraway and a Cranberry, Orange & Sultana.
The process was we watched what Carole did and then we went away to do it ourselves.
This was my Orange, Cranberry & Sultana bread throughout the process.
At lunchtime we took some of our olive dough and made a fougasse (although I’m not sure you can really call mine a fougasse, I think it’s just a shape with holes in!) 🙂
We could choose how we shaped the dough and at the end of the day I had 4 loaves to bring home.
The cost of the course was just £25. It was excellent value, lunch and drinks were included and you get to bring home what you bake. I am looking forward to bread and cheese for tea 🙂 The course ran from 10-3 and was at Rastrick High School near Brighouse.
As well as going on the courses, you can volunteer to help them bake, or you can donate towards their project.
